Hong Kong stocks closed with a loss Tuesday as investors returned from a long weekend to catch up with Asia-wide losses the previous day, with eyes on the US Federal Reserve's policy decision later in the week.
The Hang Seng Index fell 1.04 percent, or 190.61 points, to 18,176.34.
The Shanghai Composite Index shed 0.76 percent, or 23.23 points, to 3,028.05, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China's second exchange added 0.29 percent, or 4.83 points, to 1,684.15.
