China Stocks Set for Mixed Weekly Finish

The Shanghai Composite edged down 0.1% to 3,921 on Friday, while the Shenzhen Component rose 0.4% to 14,345, and was on track for a mixed weekly finish as investors weighed fresh US trade measures targeting China's technology sector.
The US imposed a 100% tariff on drone imports and related components, while smaller drones deemed to pose limited security risks will face a 25% tariff.
The measures are expected to pressure China's drone industry, where Shenzhen-based DJI Technologies holds about 70% of the US commercial drone market.
However, losses were capped by strength in technology and chip stocks after Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. ( SMIC ) reported that its Q2 profit more than tripled from a year earlier, significantly exceeding expectations amid robust demand for AI-related semiconductors.
SMIC climbed 3.5%, GigaDevice Semiconductor rose 3.6%, Cambricon Technologies gained 1.3%, Zhongji Innolight advanced 1.0%, and Eoptolink Technology added 1.3%.
