22nd June 2026 - (Hong Kong) Hong Kong equities opened lower on Monday, with the Hang Seng Index shedding 113 points, or 0.47 per cent, to 23,811 in early trading.
The broader market also retreated. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index slipped 40 points, or 0.5 per cent, to 7,935, while the Hang Seng Tech Index edged down 9 points, or 0.2 per cent, to 4,595. Technology counters were largely under pressure. Alibaba declined 2 per cent, Xiaomi Group fell 1.5 per cent and JD.com dropped 1 per cent. Kuaishou lost 0.7 per cent and Tencent eased 0.2 per cent. Meituan was the exception, rising 0.5 per cent.
Financial stocks presented a mixed picture. HSBC Holdings retreated 1.3 per cent, while AIA Group and Ping An Insurance fell 0.2 per cent and 0.9 per cent respectively. In contrast, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing gained 1.3 per cent
