Investing - Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mining, Power and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index rose 1.24% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were Surgutneftegas PJSC , which rose 5.22% or 0.81 points to trade at 16.32 at the close. Meanwhile, Federal Hydro Generating Company RusHydro PJSC added 5.11% or 0.02 points to end at 0.35 and Polyus PJSC was up 4.91% or 64.00 points to 1,367.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Magnit PJSC , which fell 0.52% or 10.00 points to trade at 1,895.00 at the close. Bank VTB PJSC added 0.05% or 0.03 points to end at 56.82 and ROSSETI PJSC was 0.11% or 0.00 points to 0.05.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 208 to 32 and 14 ended unchanged.
The Russian Volatility Index - RVI, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was down 2.21% to 38.44 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 3.74% or 155.35 to $4,307.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.91% or 0.69 to hit $75.08 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.21% or 0.17 to trade at $79.61 a barrel.
USD/RUB was unchanged 0.00% to 81.63, while EUR/RUB unchanged 0.00% to 93.55.
