(MT Newswires) -- Hong Kong stocks ended little changed on Tuesday on caution ahead of further developments in the ongoing US-China trade talks.
The Hang Seng Index closed marginally lower at 24,162.87, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index lost 12.77 points, or 0.2%, to 8,767.36.
Trade negotiations between the US and China entered a second day in London after more than six hours of discussions on Monday at Lancaster House. US officials cited "constructive" progress, particularly around disputes over technology exports and rare earth shipments.
Reports suggest Washington may ease some export controls in exchange for concessions from Beijing on rare earth materials, though restrictions on advanced AI chips are expected to remain in place.
In corporate news, two firms saw a stellar trading debut on the Hong Kong bourse, while one slumped.
Rongta , a provider of identification and data capture solutions, closed at HK$14.20 per share, up 42% from its IPO price of HK$10.
Newtrend , a glycine and sucralose manufacturer, finished at HK$22.95, up 21.4% from its IPO price of HK$18.90.
Meanwhile, bus arrival information provider MetaLight ended at HK$6.80 per share, down 30.3% from its IPO price of HK$9.75.
