16th March 2026 - (Hong Kong) Hong Kong stocks opened mixed on Monday, with the Hang Seng Index initially falling 29 points to 25,436 before recovering to trade 27 points higher, a gain of 0.1 per cent, at 25,493.
The Tech Index advanced 10 points, or 0.2 per cent, reaching 4,988, while the State-owned Enterprises Index added 10 points, or 0.12 per cent, to 8,682.
Technology stocks generally held firm, with Tencent rising 0.6 per cent and Alibaba gaining 0.3 per cent. Meituan and JD.com both climbed 1.2 per cent, while Xiaomi added 0.6 per cent. Kuaishou bucked the trend, slipping 0.4 per cent.
Financial names were mostly weaker, with HSBC falling 1.1 per cent. AIA rose 0.7 per cent, while Ping An and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing each declined 0.2 per cent.
