(Reuters) - China stocks rose to a one-week high on Wednesday, as sharp gains in chipmaking shares overpowered falling optical module stocks.
** Sentiment was also aided by a rally in global equities as Middle East tensions eased again.
** China's large-cap CSI300 Index gained 1.2%, while the Shanghai Composite Index advanced 1.5%.
** Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index climbed 0.2%.
** China's chipmaking stocks jumped after Reuters reported that Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix are evaluating chipmaking equipment from China's Advanced Micro-Fabrication Equipment for possible use at their Chinese factories, as the South Korean firms seek to hedge against the risk of tighter U.S. export controls.
** AMEC shares surged 13% in Shanghai. An index tracking Chinas semiconductor material and equipment stocks jumped 10% in its best day in two weeks.
** Chinese chipmakers also shot up, with an index tracking the sector jumping 8%.
** However, Chinese optical module makers slumped after a Reuters report that Washington was drafting a ban on U.S. imports of new models of Chinese data center components.
** Zhongji Innolight, which generates a bulk of its revenue from U.S. clients, tumbled 7% in Shenzhen and 5% in Hong Kong in record turnover.
** Shares of Eoptolink Technology, another major, export-reliant optical module maker, fell 5%.
** Energy shares in both China and Hong Kong declined as oil prices pulled back amid signs mediators were making progress in efforts to end the U.S.-Iran war.
** Chinese robotics stocks rose, as Unitree Technology is moving toward a Shanghai listing that could value the startup at more than $7.4 billion, according to an estimate by its IPO sponsor, Citic Securities.
